For institutions that wish to enable budget approvals, Clarity offers a self-learning workflow to ensure budget requests are seen and approved at various levels of the institution.
While not all institutions enable the Budget Approval features, Clarity does track and record all edits made to each individual budget line item across the general ledger. This activity is available in an audit format, which is searchable within the Budget Approval Tracking screen.
When Budget Approvals are active in Clarity, end users will be required to select the username/name of the individual responsible for approvals, whether that individual is a direct supervisor or member of the Business Office.
Once a budget is then submitted, the budgeting function will lock that user from making any additional edits to the requested budget. This process continues in the approval hierarchy until the approval chain is complete. The Business Office has the ultimate authority to unlock/lock budget managers in the event that individuals need to return to their budget to make suggested corrections.
